History
The research of radiation was launched at Kumamoto University after the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 and the nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll in 1949. The original model of Radioisotope Seminar was formed in 1952 in Amakusa. Faculty of Engineering Radioisotope Lab. 30㎡ was opened in 1955. The system of Institute of Resource Development and Analysis was reorganized into "Institute of Resource Development and Analysis Radioisotope Center (RIC)" in 2003.

About use of equipment
- Equipment in the facility is widely used by internal students.
- Users need to make a reservation at the Equipment Booking System. ID will be issued for laboratory unit.
- Users need to be registered as a 放射線業務従事者 when they use Germanium Detector, Image Analyzer and Liquid Scintillation Counter.
- Please contact about ID issue to the radiation management office (ext.3782).
